Business support hires

As a Technical and Compliance Senior, you will play a key role in supporting partners and staff in tackling complex accounting, auditing and UK legislation matters. Reporting to the Technical and Compliance Director, you will apply your technical knowledge in supporting the needs of the Firm. The main part of your role will include answering queries, performing technical reviews, issuing technical guidance and providing assistance in the monitoring of compliance with the Firm’s procedures.

You will also:

• Provide technical support and advice on accounting and auditing matters to the Firm’s partners and staff.
• Research, draft and respond to technical queries covering accounting, auditing and UK company law matters.
• Review the audit reports, financial statements and annual reports of public interest and listed entities to confirm compliance with accounting standards, auditing standards, company legislation and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Develop and issue technical materials, guidance and articles for internal and external communication.
• Update the Firm’s templates and working papers for changes in the underlying requirements.
• Provide administrative support for the Firm’s compliance functions.
• Any other duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility of the post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent) – recently qualified or due to qualify and be accepted into membership by September 2021.
• Good working knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS), UK legislation (e.g. Companies Act 2006), UK accounting standards (UK GAAP), auditing standards (ISAs), the FRC’s Revised Ethical Standard and the IESBA/ICAEW Code of Ethics.
• External audit experience.
• Ability to:
  • deal with complex, multi-faceted issues and reach clear evidenced based conclusions;
  • communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner; and
  • establish and maintain client relationships and influence at a senior level.
• Competent administrative skills (i.e. time and project management) as well as the ability to use initiative.
