What were the challenges?
The National Farmers Union Scotland (NFU Scotland) represents over 9,000 farmers, growers, crofters and other supporters across the country. NFU Scotland needed an auditor and adviser with experience and knowledge of the farming sector who could fully understand and empathise with the challenges and opportunities facing it and its members.
How did we overcome these challenges?
Many of our agricultural specialists are from farming backgrounds themselves, so the team utilised its personal insight and in-depth understanding of NFU Scotland to provide a tailored approach to the work. With 12 offices throughout Scotland, we were able to offer a local, on-the-ground connection all over the country, which was invaluable to the client as a representative organisation.
What impact did we have?
As well as providing assurance through a robust audit process, we also provide a free tax and business advice helpline to NFU Scotland members, available five days a week. The complexity surrounding farming businesses, and the constant change within the agriculture sector, mean that it is vital for farmers to have immediate access to specialist advice to help them navigate the many rules and regulations.
