As an Assistant Manager you will work on a variety of assignments and this will involve:

Prior to the assignment

• Briefing the staff member on the work that needs to be carried out
• Assist and review the staff member with the completion of the planning section
• Understand the objectives of each assignment including the budget requirements

During the assignment

• Be responsible for all work allocated
• Provide on the job training to staff members of the firm, review their work and provide feedback
• Ensure that the work undertaken is in accordance with the approved plan and budget
• Advise the staff member of any developments that may lead to a change in strategy
• Suggest logical solutions to problems
• Prepare straightforward tax computations and liaise with the Tax Division regarding more complex planning issues
• Clear partner review points and follow up any outstanding queries
• Respond to all client queries and concerns in an efficient and professional manner, often dealing directly with senior management
• Provide sound advice to clients and demonstrate knowledge of business issues
• Provide a detailed analysis of time charged on every assignment and assist with billing and future planning
• Ensure assignment is completed in a timely fashion and within deadlines

You will also be responsible for a portfolio of 10-15 clients initially. The portfolio will increase with time as your managerial skills and experience grows.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Accountancy training – audit based;
• ACCA or ACA, or equivalent, qualified – with a minimum of 6 months post qualification experience;
• Detailed working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and FRS 102 preferred; and
• Proven skills in supervising or managing staff.
