Experienced hires

The actuarial department acts as technical experts to the Financial Services team and other PKF firms in our network. We are looking for a newly or recently qualified actuary with strong communication and technical skills to support our business growth.

You will be involved in a variety of client assignments and work closely with other experts in the division. You can expect to be involved end-to-end in the core areas of reserving, capital and pricing. You will be able to use your actuarial knowledge and experience to assess and propose recommendations/solutions to improve technical matters.

This role will also offer the post-holder the opportunity to grow and play a key part with developing the in-house team capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Use appropriate data, standard actuarial methods and assumptions to independently project reserves
• Calculate SCRs using the Standard Formula approach to provide assurance on the technical accuracy of clients’ results
• Draft reports to support the actuarial work undertaken
• Assist with ad-hoc projects requiring actuarial expertise
• Assist with developing the library of resources to support actuarial work

Skills, experience and qualifications

Experience and Technical Knowledge

• A minimum of three years of London Market general insurance experience in at least one core area – reserving or capital
  • Can apply knowledge of the standard actuarial reserving methods used in non-life insurance with minimal direction
  • Can perform SCR Standard Formula calculations independently
• Pricing experience is ideal
• Experience with using reserving or capital modelling software tools
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with coding in VBA, SQL, R or other programming language is ideal

Qualifications

• Achieved a degree in an Actuarial, Mathematical or Statistical/Quantitative related degree
• Newly or recently qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent)
