PKF are proud to have worked with a great range of sponsors from private individuals, colleges and universities to local authorities and charitable organisations.

Here are some of our Academy project case studies:

Barnfield South and Barnfield West Academy (Federated Academy’s)
Sponsor: Barnfield College
Opened: September 2008
Unique features:
These two federated academies have been a beacon of success having achieved excellent results since the Academies opened in September 2010. Barnfield West Academy is one of the most improved schools in the country. The academy was also one of the first academies to be a test bed for studio schools in the country.

Birkenhead High School Academy
Sponsor: Girls Day School Trust
Opened: September 2009
Unique features:
This was the first all through 3 – 19 private schools to convert to an Academy. PKF provided the project management services working with the Sponsors who delivered the education and legal components of the project.

North East Wolverhampton Academy
Sponsors: The City of Wolverhampton College (Lead Sponsor), University of Wolverhampton and Wolverhampton Local Authority (Co-Sponsors)
Opened: September 2010
Unique features:
This academy was part of a federated trust. There were a number of complexities with the programme, which included the merging of two schools and buildings delivered through PFI.

The JCB Academy
Sponsors: JCB
Opened: September 2010
The Academy was one of the first 14 – 19 technical academies in the country. This was an entirely new Academy with no predecessor school. Bringing together a unique curriculum specialising in engineering within the context of the world of work. PKF provided the project management support in addition to overseeing the academies build programme.

We are able to respond within accelerated timescales, Here are some of the accelerated academies PKF have delivered:
  • Shelfield Community Academy (Walsall) – opened in September 2008, this Academy was taken through feasibility and implementation in 5 months and headline GCSE results show an improvement in excess of 50%;
  • Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy – successfully taken through feasibility and implementation in 14 weeks and opened in September 2009.
  • South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy – Opened in September 2009, this academy was taken through parallel feasibility and implementation within a five month programme. This project had the added complexity of working with multiple Sponsors from three different organisations. In its first year the Academy achieved a 10% increase in the number of GCSE A*-C including mathematics and English.
  • The New Academy in Stanley - The Academy was taken through a rapid feasibility stage to meet the timescales for the build programme. Funding Agreement was signed within 9 weeks of PKF’s appointment.
  • The Ormiston Venture Academy and the Ormiston Victory Academy – PKF delivered these two Academies, run in parallel over four months and opened in September 2010.
