| John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. John specialises in tax investigation work, covering lengthy fraud investigations carried out by the Special Civil Investigations unit (formerly Special Compliance Office) and the Civil Investigation of Fraud offices, disputes with HM Revenue & Customs (or between taxpayers) and detailed self assessment enquiries into companies and individuals,. Recent clients vary from a well known sportsman to an Indian restaurant to a major financial services Plc.
John is a regular contributor to the professional press, particularly on investigation practices and the expanding powers of the tax authorities and their consequences. John also gives regular lectures to other professionals on this topic.
John is an active member of two bodies at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, being the Tax Investigations Practitioners’ Group and the Enquiries and Appeals Committee, which considers and advises on all aspects of HMRC investigation work. |
