Biography
Nick was appointed partner in our South West and Wales region in May 2005 and was previously a director in the London office. He has 17 years experience of advising a wide variety of clients. Nick currently spends one or two days a week in our London office.

He returned from a two and a half year secondment to HM Treasury in January 2003 where he provided accounting assistance to teams dealing with the Department for Transport, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Department for Education and Skills. Whilst on secondment to the Treasury Nick was involved with preparing guidance on the application of FRS 17 “Retirement Benefits” in the public sector. He also advised departments on the transitional requirements involved in the move from cash based supply to resource based supply, including the preparation of dry run resource based supply estimates. During his time at the Treasury, Nick also provided advice on the trading fund applications of two MoD agencies, DERA and DARA.

Nick is now responsible for developing our public sector work in the South West and Wales and is the partner responsible for our wider work with you on DCMS and its sponsored bodies. As part of this role, he is audit partner responsible for the Science Museum, Liverpool Museum and the Natural History Museum. Nick also coordinates our other partnership work with you in this area, which has included the provision of taxation advice and training, providing audit staff to assist on your audits of various sponsored bodies and input into your Good Governance Programme. Nick’s previous clients have included Animal Health, the Government Decontamination Service, the Vehicle Certification Agency, the House of Commons Members Fund, UKAEA and the Fire Service College.

Nick has carried out grant audits for bodies such as the Environment Agency and Liverpool Museum ensuring our work complies with the requirements of AUDIT 03/03 “Public Sector Special Reporting Engagements – Grant Claims” issued by the ICAEW. Nick also works with a number of charitable organisations and has carried out a variety of assignments, including advice on mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance reviews.
