Biography
Murray gained a Bachelor of Commerce at Auckland University and qualified as an accountant in New Zealand before joining PKF-Western Australia in 1980. He transferred to PKF-UK in 1983, becoming a Partner in 2001. Murray established and leads PKF-UK’s International Projects Group (IPG), a team of consultants based in the London office which focuses solely on undertaking a wide range of assignments in developing nations, emerging markets and transitional economies. The majority of these assignments are funded by the international donor community, principally the World Bank, European Commission, EBRD and the UK’s Department for International Development, although IPG has also undertaken assignments for a number of private sector clients.

With 23 years’ experience in international consultancy, Murray has worked in 35 countries around the world, principally in East and West Africa, Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He is responsible for the project direction and quality assurance of a number of on-going multi-disciplinary multi-annual, multi million Dollar technical assistance projects providing institutional development and capacity-building support in the fields of public sector budget formulation, public and private sector internal and external audit and financial management, and private sector development. Other areas of his expertise include the restructuring and privatisation of State-owned enterprises, Due Diligence exercises in support of Foreign Direct Investment, donor aid programming and review, and feasibility studies into major proposed municipal infrastructural developments (water, public transport, ports, airports, etc.).

His sector experience includes agro-industry, textiles and light industry, maritime and transport, residential and commercial development, public utilities and services, banking and insurance, and tourism and leisure.

He is a member of the accounting institutes of New Zealand, Australia, UK and Sierra Leone, and is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Management Consultants. He is a qualified practitioner in the PRINCE2 project management methodology.
